Need some stolen base help down the stretch? Here’s a quick list of some players that might be available on your waiver wire.
Using Yahoo owned percentages.
Coco Crisp 17% – On fire of late with 12 steals and a .340 AVG in last 30 days. Why is Michael Bourn owned 58% more than Crisp?
Nyjer Morgan 33% – Stolen base in his first game back from the DL and now 30 on the season.
Ian Desmond 17% – Very hot of late hitting .307 with six steals and three home runs in the last 30 days.
Eric Young Jr. 2% – Not playing every day, but when he does, he runs. Three stolen bases in his last four games.
Alexi Casilla 2% – Not playing when Orlando Hudson and J.J. Hardy are healthy, but there is a chance one of the two misses time going forward.
Jamie Carroll 2% – Playing everyday since Furcal has been out and has four steals in the last 30 days. Only an option for deeper leagues.
Possible September call-ups
Desmond Jennings 2% – One of the top prospects in the game and 32 steals in 96 games at triple-A. Could snag some September playing time if he comes out hitting.
Corey Wimberly NA – Not really a big prospect, but plays 2B where the A’s have injury prone Mark Ellis. 45 Steals at triple-A.
Dee Gordon NA – With Furcal’s back not improving and the Dodgers falling further out of playoff contention, they may chose to give Gordon, one of their top prospects, a shot at some September playing time. He has 47 steals in 113 games at double-A, but needs to work on his plate discipline.
Derrick Robinson NA – .296/.355/.393 in his first shot at double-A. Scouts grade his speed 80 on the 20-80 scale. 43 stolen bases in 110 games this season and the Royals may showcase him in September given their current outfield situation.
